Getting Involved

— Object of Rotary —

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST — The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND — High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD — The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH — The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

   Individual Rotary clubs belong to Rotary International. Individual members, or Rotarians, belong to a club. The club is where most of Rotarians’ meaningful service work is carried out. Clubs may be engaged not only in their communities, but also internationally. What Rotarians get out of Rotary depends largely on what they put into it.

   So as to be more effective, Tyrone Rotary needs new members. The Club’s ability to assist local and international communities, support The Rotary Foundation, and develop leaders capable of serving Rotary beyond the club level is directly related to the strength, size, and involvement of its membership base.

   The Rotary Club of Tyrone, therefore, constantly is looking for new members. For more information on how to be involved in Rotary, persons may contact Membership Committee Chair Randy Miles at 814 684-7603 or by e-mail at randymiles@milesfinancialservices.com.
